VYRE
VYRE is a software development company that specialises in web based technology. Headquartered in London the key product is Unify, a web based application building framework and content management solution that is a Java EE (Java Enterprise Edition) system, which runs on any Java application server or servlet container.
VYRE has been around since 1997. The company was founded in Iceland, and was at that time named Northern Communication and Design (NCD). The system was at that time called DataWeb, and developed in ASP. In 1998, the system was rewritten in Java, and shortly afterwards the company (and the system) was renamed SALT. The company opened offices in New York and London in the year 2000. In 2001, the company (and the system) was renamed again, now to its final form, VYRE.
In 2003, the company was acquired by the London based Offstump Ltd., digital asset management and digital video experts, and has been based in London since. Offstump Ltd. changed their name to VYRE Ltd. in November 2005.

Presentation
Thursday, November 8th: 10.30 - 12.00
Track: Communication
Enterprise 2.0 in practice
Case studies of social web applications in the enterprise environment and examples of how you can use social patterns like blogs, wiki editing and commenting to facilitate corporate workflow and collaboration.
I have never been a big fan of the Web 2.0 term, to me the web is gradually evolving and we are constantly finding new ways of tapping into the power and flexibility of online collaboration. When Enterprise 2.0 was coined it was a different story. There is a trend for companies using social intranets and online collaboration to work more efficiently and this transition is happening fast. I feel this upgrade to the Enterprise landscape deserves the 2.0 stamp :)
I will cover the technical versus the social part of the Enterprise 2.0 buzz, bringing things to life by presenting case studies from actual implementations including Iceland Telecom (intranet), Lowe and partners worldwide (Portal), Woolworths (Online product management) and Diageo (Brand asset management).
